DWR/Doug Wright Powerboats Finalizes 427 And 447C1 Models—And More
Combined in the right amounts, ambition, spontaneity and insomnia are powerful forces for any small-business owner. Just ask Justin Wagner, the main man behind the DWR/Doug Wright Powerboats brand.
On Monday, Wagner awoke at 2 a.m., kissed his wife, Cicely, goodbye and drove from his home at the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri to Lambert Field in St. Louis. From there he caught a flight to Miami, rented a car and drove to West Palm Beach to meet with teammates Patrick Cleaveland, Andrew Imhof and Gary Stray.

“I slept a whole hour before I realized there were a whole lot of things I could handle in South Florida and I needed to go,” Wagner said, then chuckled. “So I said goodbye to my wife and headed out the door.
“We finalized the first 427 pleasure catamaran and 447C1 Class 1 offshore racing catamaran,” he continued. “We have tooling for both models complete, but there were tweaks we wanted to make before they went into production.”
Production on both models will begin in two to three weeks, starting with the hull for the first 427 and the deck for the first 447C1. To improve efficiency, Wagner and company have created two lamination teams. One handles hulls and the other handles decks.
